The Picture of Dorian Gray - Old Time Radio Horror

Time Warp Studios Season 2 Episode 20

The Picture of Dorian Gray is a 1974 episode of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, based on the 1891 novel by Oscar Wilde.  George Lowther adapted and condensed the story, which spans eighteen years, into a tight, fifty-minute episode  You will hear strong performances from voice actors Nick Pryor as Dorian Gray,  Norman Rose as Basil, and Roger DeKoven as the decadent Sir Henry.

Oscar Fingal O’Fflahertie Wills Wilde (yes, there are two 'f's' in O'Fflahertie) wrote The Picture of Dorian Gray as a magazine series in 1890, and then had the story published as a novel in 1891. The themes of vanity and obsession with youth still resonate today.

Greg and Mary talk about the retail value of souls, what inspired Wilde to write this story and what happened to Wilde after publishing the novel. For what would you sell your soul?
